A lifetime of unwrapping

It’s hard not to think of the incredible blessings that emerge from daily time in worship as some kind of reward.

But they are so not.  It’s not about earning anything.  It’s not a test of commitment.

It’s simply doing what it takes to accept a free gift.

It’s a slow unwrapping of a free gift – an unfolding.

I don’t deserve this gift and never, ever have, but it has been there the whole time.  It’s as if it takes an investment of time to understand and accept its ‘free-ness’

And it looks like there’s a lifetime of unwrapping ahead.
